The New York City Blitz follows all approved Scripture Distribution Policies, serving as a model for both local camps and metropolitan blitzes across the ministry. It is a great place for a Gideon or Auxiliary member to learn the proper way to fulfill our calling.

We make every attempt to honor your requests for where you would like to serve, but we do have to ensure that Hospitals and Nursing Homes, which have pre-scheduled appointments, are staffed before we assign people to other venues.

On Saturday, we will be visiting the Police Department and Fire Department precincts and offer them Scriptures. We will have maps and books that you can follow to find the locations. Come to the lower level conference room in the headquarters hotel on Saturday at 7:00 am. We will send you out in groups of three or four.

If you have free time on other days, come to the headquarters hotel registration room to get instructions for Police / Fire Department distributrions. If needed, Auxiliary wives may serve as drivers, staying with the vehicle and praying during the Gideons’ distributions.

On Saturday and Sunday we will have the opportunity to participate in open air witnessing. Training will be held at the headquarters hotel, lower level conference room, beginning at 4:00 pm on Saturday and then we travel to Corona Park in Queens. On Sunday, training starts at 2:00 pm and then we leave for Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. You will have a chance to open Conversations with visitors to the park, to share the Love of Christ with them, to offer them a free testament, and to share scriptures with them.

Sunday church services will be available in the four boroughs. Dozens of churches will have the opportunity to hear a Gideon Ministry report, some for the first time. The consecration service for speakers and drivers will begin at 7:30 am at the headquarters hotel, lower level conference room.

Distributions will be available on Monday, to prison staff at Rikers Island. At the blitz, we will meet for instruction at 5:00 am at the lower level conference room of the headquarters hotel. Prison distributions are tentative, with a limited number of Gideons being allowed to participate.

Please bring a state-of-residence photo ID driver's license with you to the Blitz for identification. If you indicate an interest in Prison distributions during registration, the Prison Coordinator will contact you prior to the Blitz to get the proper identification details from you.

Monday thru Thursday we will be at colleges in the morning and schools in the afternoon. Assignments for the day will be posted the preceding afternoon. We will meet in the headquarters hotel, lower level conference room, for prayer, instruction and team assignments at 5:30 am. Local Gideons must arrive by 5:30 am to be included in the team activities.

An Auxiliary member may assist her husband, working side by side. However, Auxiliary who would like to participate must understand that they will be committed to stay there all day, and also, that we must completely staff Hospital and Nursing Home teams before we will assign Auxiliary to Colleges and Schools.

Monday thru Thursday we will be meeting a tremendous need in the hospitals and nursing homes. We need both Gideons and Auxiliary in order to do this. We meet at 6:30 am at the headquarters hotel, lower level conference room, for Scripture reading, prayer, instruction and team assignments. In most cases, scriptures will already have been loaded into vehicles the night before, so the teams can depart immediately to hospitals and nursing homes to distribute testaments. Local Gideons must arrive by 6:30 am to be included in the team activities.

On Saturday and weekdays, we go to Safe Homes and Shelters with Scriptures. We meet at 8:00 am in the headquarters hotel, lower level conference room, for prayer, assignments and instructions.

On Monday evening, we will honor the pastors in the NYC metropolitan area for their service to the Lord. This is a great opportunity to meet area pastors. We need to encourage them to open their doors to the Gideon ministry. We are praying for more pastors to be represented this year. Reservations are required. $90.00 per person. The event is held in the banquet room of the headquarters hotel, and begins at 7:00 pm. Gideons and Auxiliary are encouraged to arrive by 6:15 pm to assist with banquet preparations.

On Tuesday evening, a special time of fellowship is planned for participants of the NYC Scripture Blitz. It will include a time to share testimonies and the blessings of this Scripture Blitz. Pizza, veggies, fruit and snacks will be provided. A donation of $20.00 per person is suggested. The event begins at 6:30 pm.
