Reaching NYC with the Word of God
The New York City Scripture Blitz was started in 1977
and, with God's blessing, has continued annually ever since then.
Early beginnings
- The video clip describes how the Bible 'Bliss' started, including testimonies
- The first one was organized by Ralph Freeman and Jim Black
- It required an exhaustive search of phone directories and maps to identify facilities
- The intent was to cover the boroughs of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan
- And to assist the New York City camps to do the work of scripture distirbution
- The vision was to involve Gideons and Auxiliary from all over the USA
- It was the first metropolitan scripture blitz in the USA, and a model for other cities

New York City has proven to be an exciting place for witnessing to the lost.
- The blitz has grown over the years to involve over 250 Gideons and Auxiliary from 20 states
- Placements have extended to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, colleges, prisons, and safe homes
- Nearly 100 church presentations are made each year, reporting on the ministry
- The associated pastor's banquet has grown to nearly 250 people, with a faith fund over $30,000
- Over the years nearly 10,000,000 scriptures have been placed in the Big Apple
- And countless people have come to know Jesus as a result. Praise God!
